Simon Says.......Anything Goes!

Welcome to another challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog!

wed-newchallenge-header

This week our theme is the ever-popular Anything Goes, and we are highlighting Impression Obsession products.  They have a large cling line of rubber stamps called Cover a Card that is a lovely variety of backgrounds, 5 3/4 " square, so that you can turn them for any orientation.  I have a couple of them that I think are indispensable - I used both of them and made 2 cards this week.

supplies: white, light kraft, and Cotton Candy card stock, Impression Obsession Wooden Plank, Tammy Tutterow Dear Ruby script background cling, Hero Arts Wet Cement ink, Simon's Chisolm Wreath and Scripty Big Hugs dies, and Floral Bliss stamps, Zig markers and water to color

This background is Wooden Plank.  For this card, I stamped it horizontally to resemble shiplap, then lightly overstamped a script background.  I also used my scoreboard and stylus to add some dimension along the board lines. The little sprigs in this stamp set looked like pussy willows to me, so I used soft spring colors throughout my design.

Next up, I used my Painted Stripes background, in slightly bolder colors.

supplies: white, Mint, and an unknown (Hero Arts?) dark aqua card stock, Impression Obsession Painted Stripes background cling, cracked pistachio and broken china distress oxide inks, Altenew Fantasy Floral dies, Simon Stitched Circle die and Big Scripty Greetings sentiment, Doodlebug Tiny Heart sprinkles

I LOVE the way the painted stripes stamp, just like brush strokes, and decided to make them into a plaid.  I masked the stamp each time to alternate my 2 colors, then turned the stamp 90 degrees to stamp it again to make the plaid.

Now it's your turn!  We have a $50.00 gift certificate

Tammy's Poseys

I am beyond thrilled that Tammy Tutterow is starting up a new design team to showcase her newest venture with Crafter's Edge!  I received her products today and couldn't wait to dive in and play!  Her products with Crafter's Edge are made mainly to work with fabric, felt, wool, etc, which jives nicely with my quilting background.  But being away from home right now I used what I have here, which is paper, and made a card using just one of her TEN new die sets.  I love how it turned out!

supplies: white card, dps from Lawn Fawn Watercolor Wishes paper pad, Crafter's Edge Posey Flowers Set 1, Tim Holtz Doily embossing folder, Doodlebug Spring sprinkles for flower centers, Tammy's From Hand and Heart Etched Metal Embellishment, natural twine

The dies cut like a dream - in fact they can cut through up to 6 layers at one time, (perfect for quilt appliques) and they work in most standard die-cutting machines.

Tammy also has several variations of these darling etched metal embellishments, and this one worked perfectly for my design!  Here's a closer look at it - it's about 3/4 " wide by 1" long.  There are 5 different designs of the metal tags.

I'm really looking forward to playing with more of Tammy's products - hope you'll give them a closer look, too!

Butterflies in the Garden

Here's a card to negate the frigid temps that the midwest will be experiencing in the next few days........hang on, every day brings us closer to spring......

supplies: white card, Wplus9 Tossed Floral Background cover die, Spellbinders Layered Butterflies, Altenew mini ink cubes, Avery Elle Loads of Wishes sentiment, Doodlebug Tiny Heart sprinkles

I glued my garden cover plate directly to my card base, then stamped and fussy-cut the butterflies and sentiment and added them, popping up the butterflies.

Hope your week's off to a great start!

Simon's February Card Kit

Here's my first play with the Simon Says Stamp February Card Kit.  The stamp set and papers have a decidedly vintage feel, and will make some really unique designs.

supplies: ivory cardstock, Authentique Romance pink plank dp, Love Always stamp set, Zig markers to color, Stitched Circle die

I love the included patterned papers in this kit and grabbed this pretty pink plank as my base, then stamped, colored and cut out the bird and the large flower from the stamp set.  I simply stamped a sentiment onto a stitched circle, then popped it above the base.  I photographed it against the Metallic Cotton Candy envelope included in this kit.

Here's another card:

supplies: black and white card, Love Always flowers and sentiments, Rose Lattice Background, embossed in white, and the darkest of the floss in the trio included in the set

I stamped the roses across a white panel, masking one of the ends, then the sentiment, and then trimmed the panel and framed it in black.  That was paired with a panel of the pretty Rose Lattice background, embossed in white on black card, and finished with a simple floss bow.

The Card Kit is a real value and still available!

HERE is the gallery for this month's kit.

Simon Says.......Have a Heart

Welcome to another challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog!

wed-newchallenge-header

Our theme this week is Have a Heart, and my teamies and I are playing with My Favorite Things products.

supplies: white, kraft, Schoolhouse Red and Green Apple card, MFT Heart Tree die, Simon Love and Friendship sentiment and Holiday Shapes die (little hearts), Penny Black Stitched Stackers dies

I was lucky to snag this darling Heart Tree die when it was first released earlier this month, and I used it for many of my Valentines this year - love how crisp the design is!  Here I used traditional Valentine red for the hearts and berries, and added a few dropping hearts, using an older Simon die.

The birds in my next card are a favorite MFT product of mine, too!

supplies: white and black cardstock, dps from MFT (bias stripes) and Doodlebug, My Favorite Things Birds of a Feather dies, sentiment from Simon Roses for You, Tammy Tutterow Prim Heart die, Doodlebug Tiny Hearts Sprinkles, adhesive foam to pop up white panel

Now it's your turn!  We have a $50.00 gift certificate

Something New

I loved so much of the recent Sunny Studio release, and treated myself to a lovely new layered stamping flower set and a sweet embossing folder.  Here's my first play with them.

supplies: black, white, and yellow/gold card, Sunny Studio Everything's Rosy stamp set and Quilted Hearts embossing folder, Altenew Pocketful of Sunshine mini inks and Warm Sunshine ink, sentiment from Simon's Handwritten Sentiments

You know my love of yellow roses, so I had to try this color first.  Maybe not a good decision, as the yellow inks I chose to use were so light that it was hard to see where to line up the flower stamps.  So I tried them again using a set of coordinating inks called Tea Party, and then found some papers to match.

supplies: Bristol paper, black and white card, dps from Bo Bunny's Early Bird collection and MFT Sorbet Dots & Stripes paper pads, Sunny Studio Everything's Rosy stamps, Altenew Tea Party and Green Meadows mini ink cubes, sentiment from Hero Arts Celebrate Everyday, Sunny Studio Fancy Frames Circle dies, adhesive foam squares to pop up main feature

As with all things in life, it gets easier to stamp these each time you do it.

Hope you're enjoying your day off here in the states!

supplies: white card, Sunny Studios Gingham dp, Heart Tree die, PTI Mix & Match and Technique Tuesday Hugs dies, adhesive foam squares to lift panel

supplies: white, kraft, and Schoolhouse Red card, Heart Tree die, PTI Mix & Match dies, Hero Arts Valentine die (from a card kit)

Hope you're having a great day!

One for Her and One for Him

I just received the Heart Tree die and am off and running for my Valentines for this year.  Here are a couple plays with it, first a feminine version, and then one for the boys.

supplies: white card, heart dp from Sunny Studio Rainbow Brights pad, My Favorite Things Heart Tree die, Simon Love and Friendship and Just a Love Note (tiny trio of hearts) stamp sets, Altenew Pinkalicious ink, PTI Snowflakes Mix & Mat die, adhesive foam squares to pop panel up

I think using kraft and substituting blue for pink makes this next one a little more masculine.

supplies: white, kraft,  Surf Blue, and Green Apple card, MFT Heart Tree die, Simon Beautiful Flowers sentiment, Altenew Sea Breeze ink, Winnie & Walter Noelle cutaways

This little die is easy to inlay the pieces back into the design, and looks just as cute when you just let the negative die do all the work.  For the first time in all my years of making Valentines, I may use this die for all of my Valentines this year!

I'd like to add this 2nd card to the current color challenge going on at My Favorite Things.

Thanks for stopping by - have a great weekend!

Simon Says ........Card & Envelope

Happy Wednesday!  Welcome to another challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog!

wed-newchallenge-header

This week we want you to make a card and an envelope to match.  You can make your own envelope or decorate one that is ready-made.  The team are playing with We R Memory Keepers products this week.  I used my corner chomper to round the bottom corners of my card and the envelope flap.

supplies: glitter white (for large snowflake), white and Surf Blue card stock, MFT Tiny Check dp, Echo Park Snow Flurry embossing folder, metallic white ink for accenting, Simon Scallop Stitches and Eliza Snowflake dies and Four Seasons Sayings sentiment, large pearl, corner chomper to round bottom corners

I bought this snowflake embossing folder because of the smaller size of the flakes and the density of the design.  Of course I had to add a little gingham

Here it is again with its matching envelope.  I embossed the flap using the same folder, and stamped some snowflakes on the lower left corner of the front.

supplies for envelope: Simon Metallic White envelope, Lots of Snowflakes stamps, Lake House ink, Snow Flurry embossing folder

Now it's your turn!  We have a $50.00 gift certificate

Flowers in the Snow

We all need to write thank yous for the gifts we just received........

supplies: white and Audrey Blue card, Echo Park Snow Flurry embossing folder, Altenew Hope clear stamp set, Audrey Blue, High Dive, Warm Sunshine, Orange Cream, and Green Meadow inks, Simon's Thanks dies, adhesive foam squares

I think this flower looks like a simple peony, even the leaves and buds, and my first instinct was to stamp it in pinks.  But since this is January, and I wanted to pair it with the embossed snowflake background, I thought these blues would be a better choice this time.

Spellbinder's January Small Die of the Month: First Crush

I was privileged to receive the Small Die of the Month for January 2019.  For anyone who remembers paper dolls, you are going to adore this sweet set - they have thought of everything!  Here's what I made with just the girl (there's a boy, too!).

supplies: white card base, kraft, slate, and cream card, dps from Doodlebug and Moda Scraps (sky), Spellbinders Small Die of the Month for January

She turned out about 4 1/2" tall and extending the balloon above her, I made my card just shy of 7" long by 4 1/2" wide.  You have a choice of hairstyles for her - I thought these pigtails were cute, but there are also braids.  See the embossed details?  She even has shoes and socks!  The heart balloon and string are part of the set also - I found a little sentiment that fit inside, but you could add your sentiment down below, too.  You can position the arms anywhere you'd like - if you make more than one doll, they could be holding hands.

I hope you'll give this set a try - it's available only this month, while supplies last.  You can see lots more examples and more parts of this set HERE.  Thanks, Team Spellbinders, for allowing me to play with it!

Altenew January Inspiration

When I saw Norine's beautiful photo taken at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, and used as our inspiration for this month's challenge at Altenew, I couldn't resist giving it a try.  My mind went instantly to my big Peony Dream dies, and literal Lin came up with this:

supplies: black, pine green, Orange Peel, Sunshine, and Lipstick Red card, Altenew Peony Dream flower dies and sentiment die from Flower Arrangement die set, Lawn Fawn Quilted Backdrop die

Here's our inspiration:

Simon Says..........Something New

Happy Wednesday and Happy New Year!  Welcome to our first challenge of 2019 at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog!

wed-newchallenge-header

Our theme this week is "Something New" - you can use new supplies you got over the Holidays, make something for a new baby, a new home, a new start.  The team are showcasing our own exclusive Simon Says Stamp products this week.

My "something new" is from the recently released You Are Loved collection.  Now that Christmas is over, I begin thinking about spring.  I have 2 cards using my new Outline Clustered Leaves die.

supplies: white and Apple Green cardstock, various MFT dps, Simon Outline Clustered Leaves and Small Hello dies, Spellbinders Layered Butterflies stamps, Altenew Cherry Blossom mini ink cubes

Here I used most of this large die, and inlaid some plaid, gingham, and dotty papers into it.  The butterfly is a fairly new stamp, too.

Next up, I love the combination of greens and kraft.

supplies: kraft, Green Leaf and Gum Drop card stock, Simon's Outline Clustered Leaves and 4 Seasons dies, Four Seasons Sayings sentiment, Your Next Stamp gumdrops

I cut the clustered leaves from kraft and 2 green cardstocks, then inlaid the darker green one into the kraft, and paper-pieced the leaves back into the design, using both greens.  This is a large die, so my card is about 6 3/4" long by 4 1/2" wide.

Now it's your turn!  We have a $50.00 gift certificate
