Listen to the music

Playing with my new music background stamp.  I have used this quote from August Rush once before, and had it stored on my computer.  My idea was to bring the quote to life, stamping music on every item on my card.  So I started with the background, coloring it in fall colors with distress inks.  Next was the sentiment, stamping lightly over the text with Brilliance Pearlescent Beige.  The birds are an unmounted stamp that Judy sent me last spring; I used a light grey ink for the music on them, then colored in few details with colored pencils and cut them out.  And lastly I stamped the music on a pale gold cardstock, then overstamped the leafy branch in versamark and heat embossed it so I could see it well enough to cut it out.

Supplies: white and parchment cardstocks, versafine onyx black, wild honey, orange marmalade, fired brick, peeled paint and vintage photo distress, Brilliance Pearlescent beige, Stampology black and versamark inks, colored pencils, Hero Arts CG222 Music Background, unknown chickadee stamp, computer-generated sentiment

  9. Lin:

Where did you get the leafy branch? Is it from a Sizzix die or is it a purchased die cut?
It is so subtle, but beautiful....and August Rush is one of my favorite movies!!! Lovely art, lovely artist.
