Hero Arts Background Layering

This month's challenge at the Hero Arts Blog is to make something using layered backgrounds, or a birthday card, or to stamp an envelope.  I used 2 of these 3 for my submission:

I first stamped the Envelope Pattern in Brilliance Pearlescent Lavender, then overstamped it with the Musical Collage stamp, masking out the lower right corner (normally a bird) using Memories Art Print Brown ink.  Then I overstamped the Hydrangea in the masked area and colored it in using watercolor pencils and a clear blending marker.  The sentiment is a metal panel given to me by Savannah, and the bow uses some pretty crochet lace from Carole, layered with twine and a brown button.   I glued the main panel to a periwinkle card.

Hero Arts Artist Shari Carroll has some fabulous ideas here for making layered backgrounds.  Be sure to give this one a try, and you might win a $50.00 shopping spree at Hero Arts!

supplies: periwinkle and cream parchment cardstocks, Hero Arts S5507 Envelope Pattern, S5501 Musical Background, K5376 Hydrangea, watercolor pencils, Tombow colorless blender, antique linen distress ink for edges and staining background, JoAnn Craft Essentials adhesive metal words, lace, twine, button
