I've never been much of a Halloween person, even in my younger days, but there are some darling images out there to play with, and I enjoyed making my cards for you this week. Here's the first one:
This one uses a Hero Arts cling set called Halloween Moon; I used the cat and the clouds from it, and added a sentiment from another HA all-sentiment set called Happy Halloween. I started with a dark charcoal card base, stamped the cat in black and the clouds in purple, trimmed them out, and then popped them above my card. The design papers are both from Doodlebug Designs current Halloween Parade collection.
For my 2nd card, I used the layout of the actual stamp set, Happy Halloween, as my model to stamp across my white card base, using VersaMark onyx black, Spiced Marmalade distress ink, and Colorbox Violet pigment inks. After stamping, I embossed the card front with the D'Vine Swirls folder, then die-cut 2 black branches and glued them to the front. To finish, I glued on some googly eyes to the "Boo!" sentiment.
As always, our sweet Heidi has provided us with a $50.00 gift voucher
to the Simon Says Stamp Superstore! Will you be the winner this week?
Love them both, Lin but that second one is so cool! Your embossing, colors and scary branches all work perfectly together! Nicely done, my friend! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Lin - not a big fan of the holiday but the images are so darn fun! Love these - the simplicity and graphic style of the first and the fun assemblage of the second. Love those lacy branches!

ReplyDeleteGreat cards, Lin! I like the CAS style of the first one and the way you used all of the sentiments together on the second. I don't do Halloween cards, but may try to do something with the color combo for this challenge.
ReplyDeleteI commented on your cards a few minutes ago - is there a delay for the comments to show up?? Anyway, I came back to say CONGRATULATIONS on your Moxie Fab win - your card was my favorite of all.

That cat is simply too cute for Halloween Lin! Love the delicate branches in your second card!
ReplyDeleteI don't always take the time to visit DT blogs when I enter a challenge, but your 2nd card really caught my eye
ReplyDeleteand I just had to visit your blog to see if that was DP or if you had stamped all those words. My curiosity satisfied, I commend you on an extremely wonderful stamped background. I would have to do it multiple times to get it so perfect. Love the embossing over top and the tree is a perfect finishing touch. TFS

I like both cards, but I think my favorite is the second one. I like the depth you created by texturizing the stamped background, and then layering the die cut branches. Blessings!
