....... on
yesterday's experiments with using
distress inks as watercolors. I wanted to understand why I got such different results, and so I played a little more today. I think I understand now that, when using this technique, you need to cover up as much of the watercolor paper as possible, and then spritz the heck out of your stamped panel! So much that you need to blot the panel.....don't be afraid to take a paper towel and lay it over the panel after spritzing......you won't lose any of the detail. Here's my 2nd try using the cool colors of peacock feathers, salty ocean, broken china, and mowed lawn. Same Avery Elle stamp set,
Petals and Stems, and my sentiment today is a Technique Tuesday This is the Day, by Ali Edwards.
I added a die-cut
Leanna butterfly and a crescent-shaped sequin from Heather.
ETA: adding this also to the
AEi♥u challenge, as this is my favorite of the 3 I did using this stamp set.
Give this a try - you need a solid stamp to make it work. If you do, I'd love to see your results.....leave me a link. Thanks for stopping by - it's Friday again already! Have a great weekend!
That's just gorgeous. I love those colors together and that butterfly is the perfect accent.
ReplyDeleteOh LIN this is perfect, I REally REALLY like the blurred effect! Thanks for the updated info. Glad to know it wasn't an issue with the inks:)
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you kept trying! Thanks, Lin! Love this gorgeous card!
ReplyDeleteThis is really lovely, Lin! I think the amount of water really dictates how much the watercolors blend into each other! Glad that you have fun experimenting! This is the beauty of playing...there is absolutely no right or wrong. It all depends on the results that you are going for, right?Well done!
ReplyDeleteLove this brighter version too, gorgeous butterfly. Cathy x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous panel you created! Hope I can find time to try that myself, because I love it!
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty, and that background is just lovely! The butterfly adds such a nice airy affect! I tried using distress inks with a background yesterday and ACK! I decided to stick with my patterned paper for now. ;)
