Inspired by Kathy

Last week I was hopping my blogs and came to Kathy Racoosin's, The Daily Marker.  I've "known" Kathy since back when the Hero Arts flickr group began, in 2000something, and have loved her work from the beginning; it has always been so unique, and she's always been known for her exceptional coloring.  This month she's hosting a 30-day coloring challenge for us, with a post or video every day showcasing her wonderful coloring, and using all kinds of mediums.  Kathy is so good that her partially-finished card from day 4 is what got my juices flowing, and I decided to make this black, white and shades of aqua card.

supplies: white and Audrey Blue cardstock, Paper Smooches Blossoming Buds, stamped in VersaFine onyx black and clear embossed, 4 shades of Spectrum Noir turquoise markers, a strip of Doodlebug design paper, and some Lawn Fawn sequins

Kathy began her card by coloring around her stamped flowers with several shades of Copic markers and I thought they looked really pretty just at that stage.  Of course she went on to color her flowers in and made them come alive, but I was still struck with how pretty they looked left white with the blue surround.  So I proceeded to follow suit, using what I have here.  I still don't own a single Copic marker - they are too dear for me, and you can see immediately that the markers I used don't blend like Copics do, but I still like the effect of the colors getting lighter as they moved away from the image.  I also added one of the lighter shades just to the centers of the flowers, to break up the white a little bit.  After coloring my stamped panel,  I sprinkled on some sequins in the same color family, and then paired it up with a strip of black and white paper and some Audrey Blue cardstock.

Thank you, Sista, for your constant inspiration to all of us - please keep it coming!
