For Valentine's or not

Earlier this month, our hostess Betty gave us a fun 90-minute Scramble at the Hero Arts Flickr site.  We were to make a Love card (not necessarily for Valentine's Day, but maybe for an anniversary or wedding), using the sweet photo inspiration she posted.  Here was my entry:

supplies: white and kraft cardstock, smooshed spun sugar distress ink, discontinued Memory Box Grapevine Wreath die, (but this adorable Simon Chisolm Wreath set is almost identical, with some fun extras included), Simon's String of Hearts and Stitched Rectangle dies, Doodlebug Cupcake twine, Hero Arts sentiment from Find Joy and tiny stamped hearts from their Hello Stamp & Cut set

Here was the inspiration photo:

This also works for the challenge at The Die Cut Divas.

It's the weekend again already!  Time flies when you're retired!

  3. Ahh Lin very clever use of the wreath and hearts. Perfect interpretation, love it with the watercoloured background.

  4. What a gorgeous card Lin - love that colour combination and the die cuts that would have made the focal point quite quick, and the watercolour background is wonderful.

  5. Very pretty :-) Did you use the "smoothing" technique for the background?

    1. Hi Janet! I used the smooshing technique (using a piece of acrylic), but since this was NOT watercolor paper, I got a slightly different effect....the ink dried almost immediately, and I had to smoosh several times to get good coverage. I kind of like the way it looks around the edges......
