A big part of why I liked it was the beautiful designer paper that was showcased. This led me to thinking about what other paper I could use for the same reason, and I remembered this gorgeous 12" paper from Prima's Romantique collection that I found at Hobby Lobby earlier this year. It is a vintage floral, with a subtle overprinting of text. I don't normally buy papers this big anymore since the 6" pads were born - the scale is usually not right for cards, but I made an exception and bought it anyway - so glad I did! Here's my new card:
supplies: eggshell cardstock (thanks, Joy!) and rust to frame, Prima Romantique Collection "Estella" dp, Lifestyle Crafts Vine embossing folder, Technique Tuesday This is the Day by Ali Edwards sentiment, Art Print Brown ink, K&Company Grand Adhesions butterflies 'Susan Winget Nature Insect"
Just to change things up a bit I embossed the printed panel instead of the card base this time.
I love the added texture it gives - kind of like brush-strokes on a canvas........

Both of your cards are beautiful. I like the way you changed up the panel that you embossed. It does look like canvas art. However, I also like the clean lines of the first card. I would be hard pressed to say that I like one better than the other. They are both stunning.
ReplyDeleteThe embossed paper is so lovely - the texture works so well with that rich image. And I just love Ali Edwards' sentiments. This came together so beautifully, Lin. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteWow! I can see why you bought that gorgeous paper, Lin! Love the way the embossing looks too - but those butterflies?! OH, MY! Do I ever love them - so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteEach card is beautiful in it's own way. The bright white embossed panel gives such a light airy background for the flowers. I love the antique feel to your second card, especially the embossing done on the flowered paper. The butterflies are beautiful done in the same flowered paper .Did you add Glossy Accents for the shine ?
Both cards are gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteYou CASED one of my favorite cards of yours! You have SUCH an eye for color and movement and this just hit those notes! Your NEW version is GORGEOUS in the larger print - it looks like a collage! And those b'flies are SO pretty!

I think the embossing of that gorgeous paper adds such richness to it all! Beautiful card, Lin.

Gorgeous cards Lin! The embossed paper looked at first glance like it was a mini puzzle that had been put together and used as a background. Fabulous!
