Today in class, Jennifer showed us a way to stretch a stencil by inking it, then moving it slightly and inking it a 2nd time. A fun concept, and this will help me going forward as I choose stencils to buy! Here's what I came up with:
I have always been a fan of periwinkle and this springy green together, so I chose shaded lilac and shabby shutters distress inks to ink my stencil called Intertwined Circles. Before attaching my panel to my card base I also used that stencil to emboss the panel. And as Jennifer did, I added a little something extra to the design, in this case, a little dot (Simon's Lots of Dots) in the center of the "petals". I think it really does give the blended design more cohesiveness. Because this looks kind of like a little quilt pattern, I chose the sentiment from Needle Little Love, and added a pretty satin ribbon to bring more of the green out of the pattern.
Thanks for visiting! I'm really enjoying this class, and it's only Day 1!
Yes, it does look like a quilt pattern...and so pretty, Lin! I love the color combo and the puny sentiment you chose for this card, too!
ReplyDeleteI think one of the best things about taking Online Card Classes is that we're learning how to get the 'most' from our supplies (and purchases)...I think you've done an amazing job with this stencil and your card is really beautiful!
Really pretty card.
ReplyDeleteI love the colours you chose for your card, very nice!
ReplyDeleteJust wow! You really incorporated a wealth of ideas here!
ReplyDeleteThat is so pretty! I never would have thought of using a stenciled like that but it's perfect.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty card. I am also taking the class but do not have time to work on projects tonight so I will start tomorrow and I hope that I have something in my stencil stash that will work like this overlapping. I love how you also rounded the corners, small touches like that really finish off the design. Also the little corners of blue along the edge blend in with the card base so well that it really looks like you fussy cut the whole panel to have a rounded, scallop look.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous results!! I love how you moved around the stencil to give it a neat look! Well done, Lin!
