Simon Says........Spring Flowers

wed-newchallenge-header

Welcome to our first challenge for May at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge!

Simon Wednesday Challenge Blog

Our theme this week is Spring Flowers, and the design team are all using Penny Black products.  We'd love to see anything from you that is Penny Black, but it's not a necessity to enter, as long as you show us some spring flowers!

Because flowers of all kinds make me happy, I made 2 cards this week.

This one features the sweet Pansy Bouquet stamp.  I stamped and clear embossed it on watercolor paper, then used my PrismaColor watercolor pencils to color it in before swiping them with a wet paint brush to blend the color.  The word pansy comes from the french pensee, which means thought or remembrance.  So the lovely font of the sentiment from Simon's Summer Garden set was perfect to add to it.  I framed it up in yellow and purple, and then added a few tiny sequins.

I used the same layout for my 2nd card, but stamped an old favorite Penny stamp called Scented Message.  To me, those flowers are forget-me-nots, a very welcome spring flower.  I colored them this time with my Spectrum Noir markers, and then used old paper distress ink through Tim Holtz's Doily stencil to add to the old-fashioned feel in the background.  Here I added some teensy pearls.

So now it's your turn!  The random winner of our challenge will win a $50.00 gift voucher to the Simon Says Stamp store!

  8. Hi Lin,
I am so impressed that you took the time to create two fabulous cards for this week's Challenge...both are such beauties, but I have to admit, I find myself drawn to the "purple" Pansy image?? Hum, I wonder why!!

I also do really love that second card and have found a whole new LOVE for PB stamps lately, that newest release is stunning in some many ways.

Thanks again for your kind comments and very caring thoughts!

    Hugs,
    Lisa
