Simon Says........Make Your Own Background

Happy Wednesday - welcome to our challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog.

This week we want you to "Make Your Own Background", and the team is featuring Brutus Monroe products.

I wanted to play with their Designer Toner Sheets and foil, so I chose a set called Snow Day.  

supplies: white and Audrey Blue cardstock, Brutus Monroe Snow Day clear toner sheet, Rainbow Shattered Glass Foil (keeping to the blues), sentiment from Simon's Snowflake Season, Audrey Blue ink, and Eliza Snowflake die, adhesive foam squares to pop up snowflake

These toner sheets are unique in that each sheet contains a variety of 2" squares of positive and negative snowflakes, printed in toner on either clear acetate or white.  I chose a clear sheet and cut out 6 squares of the positive designs, then added the foil and ran it through my laminator.  They were adhered to a panel of Audrey Blue cardstock before I added my snowflake carrying my sentiment.

More Rustic Florals

I have a couple more cards using the beautiful Brutus Monroe Rustic Florals papers today.  This first one is a variation of the one that I made for this week's Simon Wednesday challenge.

supplies: pastel yellow and blue cardstock, Brutus Monroe Rustic Florals dp, Simon's Thanks Scallop Border die, blue embroidery floss, organza ribbon, adhesive foam to pop up sentiment panel

I lifted the scallop border portion above the rest of the card this time, embellishing it with some floss stitching and a little bow.  

supplies: Cotton Candy cardstock, Brutus Monroe Rustic Florals patterned paper, Pink Fresh Studio Adore Alpha dies, Lawn Fawn Stitched Scallop Borders die, sentiment from Hero Arts Hello Stamp and Cut, pink enamel hearts

Starting with a single sheet of another of the papers, I used my alpha dies to cut out my word.  The word was bordered with some stitched scallops, then the panel was attached to a pink card base.  Next I cut out 3 more sets of letters from white cardstock, glued them together with the pattern on top, and then reinserted them back into the negative space.  To finish, I added a stamped sentiment strip and some enamel hearts.

There are 3 sheets of 8 different designs in this paper pad, each one prettier than the last!

Simon Says........Anything Goes!

Happy Wednesday - welcome to our challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog!

As always on the last challenge of each month, our theme is Anything Goes!  The team is playing with Brutus Monroe goodies.  This is a new-to-me company, and I was delighted to see that it's based in my old hometown, Pittsburgh, PA!  I chose 2 of their products to play with today.

First up, a card using a stencil.

supplies: white cardstock, Brutus Monroe Lace stencil, picked raspberry, candied apple mustard, persimmon, lucky clover, mermaid lagoon, blueprint sketch, wilted violet distress oxide inks, Simon's Stitched Circle and Stitched Rectangle dies, and (retired) Summer Garden sentiment, enamel heart

I secured the stencil to my cardstock, then masked it in quarters to apply the distress oxide inks in rainbow colors, then trimmed it out and added my sentiment inside a circle in the center.

I love design papers with planking, so I also chose this lovely floral plank paper pad.  The papers are nice and thick, single-sided, and have a very slight gloss to them.

This paper does all the work when you want a quick card - here I simply added a scalloped sentiment panel, some stitching, an organza bow and an enamel dot.

I loved these papers so much that I made 2 more cards with them - I'll post them soon.
