Happy Heart Day

Another Valentine card today, mixing a favorite heart tree die with some brand new (to me) border dies.

supplies: white, Lipstick Red, Audrey Blue, and kraft card, MFT Heart Tree die, (retired) Simon sentiment from Just a Love Note, Lipstick Red ink, Pink Fresh Studio Folk Edge Rectangle dies

I cut the heart tree from kraft, aqua, and red card and used one of the negative designs to paper-piece the details onto an edged rectangle that had first been stamped with the sentiment.  I added some punched red hearts fluttering out of the tree, then I matted that panel in red and centered it onto the largest edged rectangle.

I'm so glad to see that this darling tree is still available in these times when everything is being discontinued to make room for more.  I look forward to using it each year!  It's especially nice for my boys and hubby!  If you search "heart tree" over there on my right sidebar you can see a few other cards I've made with it down through the years.

With All My Heart

Here's another Valentine - this one couldn't be simpler to make, as the dies do all the work!

supplies: Cream, Schoolhouse Red, and red glitter card. Honey Bee Fluttering Hearts cover plate die, Simon's With All my Heart die set

I used red glitter card for my sentiment, to make it a little more special.

Thanks for stopping by - enjoy your weekend!

Simon Says.......Anything Goes!

It's Wednesday - welcome to our challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog!

Our theme this week, as it is at the end of each month, is Anything Goes.  This week the team will be featuring Lawn Fawn goodies.  You don't have to use this brand to play along with our challenge, but if you do have any of their products, we'd love to see them used.

supplies: white, Green Leaf, Lipstick Red, Schoolhouse Red and a blue from Memory Box Ocean Blue collection cardstock, woodgrain dps from Lawn Fawn Knock on Wood, Lawn Fawn Magic Iris Birdhouse Add-On dies, Simon Falling Snow stencil and sentiment from Cozy Wishes, white pencil

This appears to be the year of birds for me so far this year!  And since it's still January and technically winter, I decided to have a light snow falling on my card.  Using a white pencil with my stencil gave the soft effect I was looking for.  I cut my birdhouse from woodgrain patterned papers, and added a little berried wreath around the opening, which was perfectly sized for my sentiment.  All of the dies that I used are from this same die set.  It is technically an add-on, but as you can see, it works just fine on its own!

Now it's your turn!  We have a $25.00 gift certificate

to the amazing Simon Says Stamp store for 1 lucky random winner of this week's challenge!  I can't wait to see what you all make this week!

Foiling and Washi for a Birthday Card

I needed some birthday cards this month, so I pulled out my new Scattered Dots glimmer plate for a background and topped it with a washi tape wreath.

supplies: white card, Spellbinders Scattered Dot glimmer plate and Aura glimmer foil, PinkFresh Studio English Garden washi wreath topped with Joyful Bouquet washi floral sprigs, Perfect Sentiments hot foil plate and matte gold glimmer foil, Perfect Sentiments cutting plate, adhesive foam to lift sentiment

These washi tapes have gold foiled outlines and details, so I piled on more gold with my background and sentiment - makes for a festive card in these dull days of January!

You Have My Heart

Here's another Valentine's card.  For this one, I pulled out a sweet heart wreath from one of my all-time favorite Simon stamp sets from a year ago.

supplies: white and white woodgrain cardstock, You Have My Heart wreath and sentiment, Penny Black Stitched Stackers die, adhesive foam squares

As I was linking the supplies, I was horrified to find out that this set is on the chopping block; (fyi, if you ever see an asterisk beside the title of anything at Simon, that means it's about to be discontinued.), as is its matching die set.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Welcome to our challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog!

Our theme this week is "4-Legged Friends", and the team is showcasing Penny Black products.  I've had my eye on this sweet Flower Teddy for awhile and was tickled to have an excuse to bring him home!

supplies: white and Surf Blue card, Penny Black Flower Teddy clear stamp set, sentiment from Simon Beautiful Flowers, Lawn Fawn Fancy Scalloped Rectangle dies, Sunny Studio Quilted Hearts embossing folder, adhesive foam squares

Our granddaughter will be having a birthday this month, and this should be perfect for her!

Pink Winter Wonderland

The last time I placed an order at Simon Says Stamp, I added this darling Doodle Pop to my order.  With the current snowstorm bearing down on a good part of the country, I thought this was the time to play with it!

supplies: white and Doll Pink card, pink snowflake patterned paper, Doodlebug Crystal doodle pop (includes 2 snowflakes), Simon retired Birch Circle die and retired sentiment (Simon/Kelly Purkey Let it Snow), adhesive foam squares

The birch die from Simon has been retired, but HERE are some other options.  Doodle Pops always make me smile, and add such a fun touch to our creations.  They are perfectly sized for our A2 cards, and there's always a great variety to pick from!

If it has to be winter, then a pink one might be fun!  For now, my area appears to be on the edge of the storm, and we're supposed to get 3 to 5 inches beginning this evening and lasting through the night.  For those of you in the middle of it, be safe!

Lacey Heart Valentine

I recently grabbed a pretty little heart die that I thought would be sweet for Valentine cards.  Here's my first play with it.

supplies: white, Cotton Candy, Green Apple, and darker pinks from Memory Box Berry Red cardstock, Paper Rose Lace Heart Frame Dies, Memory Box Heart Bouquet 3D embossing folder, sentiment from (retired) Simon Just a Love Note stamp set, little flowers and leaves from a sold-out Spellbinders Card Kit from December, adhesive foam squares

I evidently got the last one of these Lace Heart Frame dies from Simon, as they aren't showing in the store anymore.  But I believe they are still current at Paper Rose.  The lacey details are lovely, don't you think?  This embossing folder has a built-in area for a heart, so these 2 were a perfect match for each other.

Valentine's Day is a favorite holiday for me, so you'll be seeing more from now until then.  Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy your weekend!

Spellbinders January Clubs Blog Hop

Welcome to my stop on today's Spellbinders January Clubs Blog Hop!  You should have arrived here from Rosemary Dennis' blog.  If you've not visited my blog before, I'm Lin Brandyberry, and I have a card for you that uses the January Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month.  I kept my design simple to allow the foiling to be the star of the show.

supplies: orchid pink and white card, January Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month, Pink Glimmer Foil, Hemstitch Rectangle die, a pink glitter heart sticker

I simply foiled one of the heart glimmer plates and a sentiment in pink gimmer foil,  added a glitzy heart sticker where a heart exists in the design, and framed the panel in my favorite Hemstitch Rectangle to allow more pink to show through.

Here's a tilted photo to hopefully show you the foiling a bit better.

I did 3 other cards using this set HERE, in a different color scheme, but I like this pink and white version!

Don't forget to leave a comment on the Spellbinders' blog for a chance to win one of 3 $25.00 gift certificates.

Now you can move on to the next stop, which is Karen Yagel's blog.  Enjoy the hop, and thanks for visiting!

Simon Says.......Fun with Stencils!

Welcome to our challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog!

This week our theme is Fun with Stencils, and the team is playing with Tim Holtz products!

supplies: white, kraft, green, and Schoolhouse Red card, Tim Holtz Birch Stencil, Woodlands die, Darling Deer die, Impression Obsession cardinal dies, and sentiment from Simon's Snowflake Season,  broken china distress ink, blender brush, adhesive foam squares

I have been making variations of this card for years, but I never grow tired of it (I hope you'll indulge me one more time!).  It brings back fond memories of my Dad; he loved being in the woods, and passed that on to me.  I've never made this scene with a stencil, however, and now I have a birch stencil to add to my collection of woodland supplies!  This time I lifted the bottom panel of the design above the background for some added dimension.

Now it's your turn!  We have a $25.00 gift certificate

A Cozy Note

The stamp set from Simon's November card kit is full of sweet images, and I've only played with one of them, so here's another card.

supplies: white and Audrey Blue card, mailbox, bird, and sentiment from Simon's Cozy Wishes set, Stitched Oval die, Snowflake Visions embossing folder, Lawn Fawn Fancy Scallop Rectangle Stackable die

I don't think this needs any explanation, so I'll just say thanks for stopping by today!

Spellbinder's Glimmer Hot Foil Kit for January: Love Enclosed

I am thrilled to be able to play with these monthly Glimmer Hot Foil kits this year!  January's kit is all about Valentines!   My first 2 cards use the hot foil elements and the red foil that is included in the kit.

There are 2 hearts (with a die to cut them out), 1 floral and 1 a sentiment, plus 5 different little sentiment strips that can all be foiled.  For this card I just added a heart and a sentiment strip to an embossed heart background.

The next card uses the sentiment heart, and I added my own foiled heart background, using the Scattered Hearts Background Glimmer plate.

Also included in this set are some tiny floral and leaf dies.  I used those on my last card to form a heart-shaped wreath, along with another of the foiled sentiment strips.

You can find all the information you'll need HERE to get this darling kit for yourself.  You'll have until January 24 to join the club.

Thanks for visiting today, and many thanks to Spellbinders for allowing me to play with this kit!

Happy New Year!  And welcome to our first challenge of the year at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog!

This week's theme is "Something New": you can use new products that you got for Christmas, make a New Year's card, or something to celebrate a new job or a new baby - the operative word is "NEW"!  The team is featuring The Rabbit Hole products.  I chose a pack of ditsy floral papers and went into my Pinterest board of sketches for my designs today.

supplies: white and Blue Violet card, The Rabbit Hole Spring Floral #2 papers, Simon's Leanna Butterfly and sentiment from Garden Greetings, a retired floral embossing folder

There are several lovely blue colorways in this paper pack.  Here's a more turquoise one:

And lastly, I chose a red version and mixed it with some Doodlebug papers.

supplies: Schoolhouse Red card, The Rabbit Hole Spring Florals #2 paper pack, Doodlebug gingham and floral dps, Pretty Pink Posh Scallop Border die, My Favorite Things Stitched Blooms flower dies, Thanks die

Another Bird Thank You Card

Happy New Year!

I had several thank you cards to make from Christmas - here's another of the new bird dies from Simon Says Stamp's latest release.

supplies: white and green card, Simon's Leaf Bundle embossing folder and Layered Birdie die, Tim Holtz Sentiments Label Sticker

This card couldn't be much simpler, but I love the details of the embossing folder and the layers on the bird.

Thanks for stopping by today - hope your New Year is off to a great start!
