Merry and Bright

I received the December Simon Says Stamp Card Kit yesterday, and made a card using the stamp set and papers.

I stamped a panel, colored the adorable little reindeer, giving him a red nose, of course, and then framed the panel with several of the papers, cut into varying widths of strips.  I added some centers to my snowflakes and glossy accents to his nose.

SSS November Card Kit

I received my November Card Kit from Simon yesterday and got right to playing!

supplies:  wood plank design paper, Flower Frenzy embossing folder, Delicata Celestial Copper ink cube, Thankful Heart stamp set, flower paper clip, all from the November kit, my own metallic copper cardstock

I've been loving wood plank design papers, and was thrilled that one of them was in the kit.  I trimmed it to A2 card size, embossed it with the included folder, and then lightly used the ink pad to add color to the raised parts.  The little cube is perfect for doing this.  The panel was mounted to a card base, and then I stamped the sentiment with VersaFine ink and embossed it to keep it from smearing on the copper panel.  I also die-cut a circle from the same copper to insert inside the flower clip, and that's where I added some adhesive to make it stick to the card.  I photographed my card with the beautiful copper metallic envelope that is also included in the kit.

Simon's October Card Kit

I received my Simon October Card Kit yesterday and dived in first thing this morning!  If I'd designed a kit, this would be pretty close to it!

supplies: all supplies from Simon's October Card Kit, Nutty Over You stamp set, Burnt Orange, Audrey Blue, and Dark Chocolate cardstock, Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid for Fall dp, Little B Acorn sticker), plus: ivory cardstock, Simon's Stitched Circle die, Audrey Blue, Poppy, Bright Tangelo, and Cup o' Joe inks, Nuvo Caribbean Ocean crystal drops (from last month's kit), adhesive foam squares

I cut a stitched circle, then used the next smaller size of that set to lightly draw another circle inside as a pattern for my stamping.  After stamping the brown leaf sprig all the way around, I could erase my pencil lines, and then add my other elements, using ink colors that matched the background plaid.  This stamped circle was then popped above the rest of my card.

Simon's September Card Kit

I have a couple of cards for you today that I made using the Simon Says Stamp September Card Kit.

My favorite part of this kit are the papers and the Nuvo drops!  I'm pretty sure I'd never have known about these little bottles that help you make enamel dots - that's the goodness in these kits!  Here's a look at all that you'll get:

Under the Same Stars

I'm here today with a card I made using Simon's latest Card Kit, Seeing Stars.  It is packed with so many fun items: besides the usual stamp set and papers, there are a die, a stencil, and 2 mini distress inks!!

Here's my card:

Everything you see except the striped twine is in the kit.  I used the Vented Star die, Seeing Stars clear stamp set, and the inks, cardstock, and the woodgrain dp that was part of the kit.  The twine is a Lawn Fawn coral one.

Though this seems to be themed for 4th of July and other patriotic events, I hope I've shown that, with this sweet sentiment, it can be used for other occasions, too, especially for making cards for our servicemen.

I'm excited to play next with the Motif Resist papers in this kit, and the Fireworks stencil!  Don't wait too long if you'd like this one - I'm betting it will be another sell-out!

Simon's July Card Kit

The Card Kit this month at Simon Says Stamp is a pretty one!

Here's the card I made:

I chose one of the PinkFresh papers, and cut it to fit my white card front.  Next I stamped the big flower on the Cotton Candy and Lemon Chiffon cardstocks, and then colored in a few of the petals tone-on-tone with my own markers to match.  I did the same for the leaves, using Simon Sea Glass cardstock, and adding details with a Dusty Sage distress marker.  These were all fussy-cut, and arranged as you see them, using Glad Press & Seal to hold the elements together until I was ready to attach them onto the panel.  I stamped some extra black dots to the left side of the panel, to match the printed ones on the right, and stamped my sentiment using my trusty Mini Misti, affixed the panel to my card base, and then popped the flowers and leaves above the surface, adding a sequin to the center of each flower.

Look for the Miracles

I have 2 cards made from Simon's June Card Kit.

supplies: white cardstock, a panel of Bo Bunny's Believe dp, in kit, vellum, Simon's Look for the Miracles sentiment and hearts, in kit, white embossing powder and VersaMark ink, white seam binding

This is a simple design, highlighting this lovely sentiment.  There are several dps I could have used behind this, but I loved this bright, happy heart one!

For the 2nd card, I stamped many of the designs from the Look for the Miracles stamp set on a panel of white cardstock, using my new mini Misti!  (I have been having such trouble getting clean crisp impressions lately that I finally caved and got one - WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!).  Then I cut the stamped panel in half, and then each half into 2 pieces, and remounted everything onto a Sunshine card base, adding some of the enamel dots in the kit in the flower centers.  I used Orange Peel and Island Blue strips to highlight the dream diecut in black.

Hydrangea Dream

I have been very lax in my card making the last month or so.  We have been doing over our kitchen, replacing the original cabinets and everything else there.  We love the results, but it took us a good 2 months, and then another 2 weeks to spring clean the rest of the house when it was finally finished!  So now I'm all ready to get back into making cards.  I chose my favorite Hero Arts flower stamp and watercolored a panel after heat embossing it in white:

supplies: ivory, black, and periwinkle cardstock, watercolor paper, Hero Arts Hydrangea, blueprint sketch, mowed lawn, and tumbled glass distress inks, water, die-cut sentiment from Simon's June Card Kit, May Arts periwinkle seam binding ribbon, Winnie & Walter Audrey Cutaways scalloped die

As always after a break, I find it tough to get started again, so I chose this wonderful stamp and my favorite colors to ease back in.  After embossing the image, I couldn't stamp a sentiment over it, but timing is everything - my mailman delivered the new Simon June Card Kit today, and I thought the sentiment die inside was the perfect solution!  I think that ribbon is dreamy, so it works for me!

SSS April Card Kit: A Colorful Life

The latest Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp was revealed today, and I love it!  Here's a card I made using only the supplies in the kit:

I used the cotton candy and black cardstock, one of the design papers from the Life in Color papers, also a sentiment sticker from coordinating collection, and stamped and fussy cut a spray of flowers made using the new stamp set called Birthday Flowers.  These pastel colors say spring to me, and I love the pop of black and white with them!  The stamp set even has a dotted stamp, so that when the paper is gone, you can get the same effect by stamping!

Simon's Card Kit for March

The new Simon Says Stamp Card Kit was revealed earlier this month, and it is adorable!  I love the stamp set and the gorgeous papers - they are truly all about spring!  Here's the first card I made using the supplies in the kit:

I love those teensy bunny stamps and die, perfect to make fun shakers like this!  There are actually 3 sizes of bunnies, both solid and outline, all with matching dies!

It's about time I made a card using My Favorite Things  Beautiful Blooms.  When I saw this week's MFT Sketch challenge, it gave me a place to start.

Simon Says Stamp February Card Kit!

I just received my card kit for February and couldn't wait to play with some of the beautiful papers!  Mixing stripes and florals is a favorite thing for me to do, but I wanted to stretch my gorgeous floral paper, so I cut out a 2" strip from it and then fussy-cut as many flowers as I could to use on this first card.  They also work to help hold the vellum sentiment panel down to the card.

supplies: all supplies except vellum from Simon's February Card Kit: cotton candy and black cardstock, striped and floral papers, sentiment from the Hello Beautiful clear stamp set, epoxy heart stickers, gold heart sequins

My second card uses the unique marbled paper in the kit, along with some more of the epoxy stickers, another sentiment from the stamp set, and I added a die-cut heart from the Small Heart Doily die set from last year.

Here's another, using more of the floral and striped paper, along with an ombre one, cut with the same Small Heart Doily dies I used above.

My First Valentines!

I was lucky enough to win the My Monthly Hero January Card Kit, and here is my first play with it:

supplies: watercolor paper and white notecard, abandoned coral distress ink, Hero Arts die and sentiment from Card Kit, tiny pearls, Winnie & Walter Audrey's cutaway scalloped stitched die

I smooshed some coral distress ink on a watercolor panel, die-cut my heart, then added more of the same color to the tiny hearts and added some tiny pearls.

Isn't the sentiment perfect?

And another, using the other 2 dies in the kit:

supplies: white notecard, poppy layering paper,  Lucy's shaker mix, small sentiments, and acetate from kit, abandoned coral distress ink, smooshed, Winnie & Walter hugs and Audrey cutaway panel

I should have dumped more of the shaker mix inside my shaker, but, since this is my first sampling of Lucy's mixes, I want to make it last!

In other news, have you seen the brand spankin' new Hero Arts catalog?  It is being unveiled today!  I've got my eye on some pretty flower stamps and they will also be releasing 14 new hybrid inks!!  Hero Arts inks are a staple in my stamping, so I'm excited about these new ones!

Flurries of Love

I received my Simon Says Stamp January 2016 Card Kit yesterday and had a play with it this morning!

What a fun set for winter!  Here's my card:

As you can see, I used a little of everything!  I stamped and silver embossed some of the snowflakes from the Cute Snowflakes stamp set first on a panel of Audrey Blue cardstock, then cut some of the Doodlebug design papers into strips and also added some strips of the silver glitter tape before popping the little girl and her dog above everything.  I even added a few of the Doodlebug sprinkles to the centers of some of the snowflakes.

Next up is a shaker card with all those snowflake sequins, and since my first card was so busy, this one is much simpler:

The sentiment is from one of the design papers in the kit.  My shaker box was layered between another of the design papers and a piece of acetate, separated with foam squares to give the snowflakes room to shake, and then "bound" all around with more of the silver glitter tape.
