Flowers and Birds

I received my Simon November Card Kit, and dove right in - what gorgeous components!!

Here are my first 2 cards, concentrating this time on the patterned papers and coordinating stickers.

supplies: Fog card stock, papers and stickers from Pebbles Heart of Home Collection, Darice gold leaves, my own white string, adhesive foam squares

I used a sketch and the heart paper, a bird sticker, and my sentiment is also from another of the design papers.  I popped up the beautiful bird sticker - easy to do because it's made from heavy cardstock, added the leaves and string, and done!

Here's another - I love to mix gingham and florals!

supplies: white and Slate card stock, papers and stickers from Pebbles Heart of Home Collection, sentiment made using Simon's Kind Flowers stamps and coordinating Kind Bold Outline die, Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Scallop Border die, adhesive foam squares

And I have hardly touched the gorgeous oversized stamp set - there'll be more where these came from!  Here's the Card Kit.  Be sure to visit Simon's Gallery for more samples using this kit!

Hope your week is full of sunshine - given and received!

Mix It Up challenge

When I saw the sketch part of the current Mix It Up challenge at the Sugar Pea Designs blog, I thought it was a sweet way to show off some patterned papers.  And still having the Harvest Mouse set out on my work surface, I married the 2 for my entry:

supplies:  most dps from Pebbles Woodland Forest paper pad, MFT Harvest Mouse stamps, colored pencils, Simon's Stitched Circle and Spellbinder's Circle dies

Sugar Pea's Fall Fox set would be perfect here, but I haven't been able to snag it so far - it's at the top of my wishlist.

I'd like to throw my hat into the My Favorite Things Superstar contest.

Share Joy Challenge #50

I have a card today that I'd like to enter into the Taylored Expressions Share Joy challenge.  I used the sketch along with some fall colors, pulling them from the floral paper:

I love these kinds of sketches, because it means I can use some of my collection of design papers!

Here's our inspiration - you can use either the sketch or the photo inspiration, or both.

A Harvest of Blessings

When I finally was able to get this Harvest Mouse set last year, it was way beyond the season, and though I adapted it for some Valentines for my Grands, it has been waiting until now to get used again.  The current My Favorite Things sketch challenge gave me just the start I needed!

supplies: cream card stock, MFT Harvest Mouse clear stamps, Spectrum Aqua markers to color, DieNamics Stitched Tag, Pebbles Harvest papers, Martha Stewart fence punch, adhesive foam squares

Here's our sketch:

I had a fun afternoon yesterday playing with these adorable little guys......you'll be seeing a few more cards using them soon!

CASE this Sketch #179

As soon as I saw this week's sketch at CASE this Sketch challenge, I thought of my Fancy Banner stamps and die.  Here's my entry:

supplies: white and Hero Arts kraft cardstock, Taylored Expressions Fancy Banner 2 stamps and die, markers to color, Simon Chisolm Wreath die, Simon Stitched Rectangle die, Scrapbook Adhesives foam squares

This was really hard for me to leave this alone......I fought not to add a small colored frame around the inner rectangle, or add splatters or sequins.  For me, this is CAS to the max......lots of white space!

Here's the sketch - isn't it cute?

MFT Sketch Challenge

Sneaking in at the last hour with an entry for the current My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge:

supplies: white and black cardstock, MFT Flashy Florals stamps and dies, MFT fabulous die, Simon's Stitched Rectangles die, Hero Arts Wallpaper Background woodblock from 1999, various sequins, adhesive foam squares

I was so enthralled with Karolyn's velveteen stamping here, that I went the same route, using a very old Hero Arts ditzy floral stamp for my pattern.  This is a technique invented by Shari Carroll when she was a Hero Arts artist; basically you stamp a pattern in white pigment ink on white cardstock, and when it's dry, overstamp your designs.....the white pattern will float upwards and be subtly visible through the overstamped colors.

Here's the sketch:

Thanks

I got some new goodies to play with and I'm combining a couple of them to enter the current Share Joy challenge.

supplies: white cardstock, Taylored Expressions Rosy Posey embossing folder, My Favorite Things Flashy Florals stamps and dies, MFT thanks die, MFT Dots & Stripes Sorbet striped dp, Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear sequins

I think Taylored Expressions makes some of the nicest embossing folders, and this Rosy Posey one has been on my list for awhile, but always sold out.  So last week when I saw it was back in stock, I scooped it up!

Here's our sketch for this week:

After a dreary day yesterday of showers, it's a beautiful spring Sunday here!  I hope you're getting some of the same!

A Little Birdie.....

Here's a last-minute entry to the current Share Joy challenge. I used the sketch only.  One of my favorite things about springtime is the pretty greens of the newly emerging leaves, so I started with that and everything followed.

You're So Tweet

The sketch challenge at My Favorite Things for this week is an interesting one, so I pulled out an old Pure Innocence stamp and had a play with it.  The  bird chatter has definitely increased lately outside my window, and this will make a cute card to send to our granddaughter!

supplies: white cardstock, various dps from My Mind's Eye paper pads, My Favorite Things You're So Tweet stamp set, some stitched dies

MFT Sketch challenge

I have a long wishlist of My Favorite Things products, so I will be entering their challenges more often.   Here's my card for their current sketch challenge:

supplies: white, black, pink, and green cardstock, vellum, DieNamics Scribble Roses Overlay and Layered Leaves dies, Wplus9 Hand Lettered Hello stamps, pink pearls

Miriam's sample card for this challenge reminded me that I had these Scribble Roses, so I cut enough to fill a square panel and then followed the sketch.  The added pearls help secure the vellum to the rest of the card.
