Layered Rosebuds

Here's a card using a brand new flower die from Simon's recent Hugs collection.

supplies: white, Green Apple, Green Leaf, and black cardstock, Lawn Fawn Watercolor Wishes paper pad, Simon Layered Rosebud dies, Altenew Pocketful of Sunshine and Golden Sunset inks, blending brushes, Beautiful Butterflies sentiment, Sunny Studio Frilly Frames Eyelet Lace dies, Hero Arts and MFT (retired) layered leaf dies

If you've visited here long enough you know that my favorite color for roses is yellow, so that's what I used for these dies' first outing.  I cut the pieces from white cardstock and added color with a blending brush and shades of ink.  The leaves were cut from green cardstocks.

This new die set is quite large as flowers go, but not too large that you can't use 2 or even 3 of them on a card.

Thanks for stopping by today - enjoy your day!

Simon's February Card Kit

My kit arrived a few days ago, and the first thing I played with were the holographic papers, the stencil, and the Fancy Love die.  I think this makes a fun modern valentine!

supplies: Doll Pink and Simon Holographic Rainbows cardstock, Hearts and Stars stencil, Fancy Love die, Small Love You die, a heart die

I used the stencil, along with an embossing plate and mat, to transfer the heart design onto the holographic cardstock, then simply added an embellished sentiment.

I was pleased to get a pretty pink mesh bag, the Adhesive Sheets, and a Tri-Blend marker in my kit, also, along with the adorable stamp set called Sweet Days!

You Have My Heart

Valentine's Day is on the way, so I'll be in full heart mode now for awhile.  My Mom sent us Valentines up through our adult years, and I have carried on that tradition, sending them to my family members and girlfriends.

supplies: white and Schoolhouse Red cardstock, Honey Bee Heart Vine die, old Hero Arts heart die, sentiment from Simon (retired) You Have My Heart

Is Valentine's Day a big day with you?

I loved this embossing folder with sweet posies, and paired it with a little wreath of flowers that I had previously colored and had in my scrap basket.

After embossing the design on white, I gently rubbed on some violet ink with a large blending brush.

Here's my card, featuring the Large Dies of the Month and the Embossing Folder of the Month for January.

supplies: white cardstock, January Large Dies of the Month: Club Blooms, Spring Bouquet and Chamomile mini ink cubes, finger daubers, January Embossing Folder of the Month: Stylized Trellis, sentiment from Sentimental Greetings clear stamps

The FIRST TIME I played with these dies, I used colored cardstocks, so this time I thought I'd use my inks on white cardstock.  I embossed a partial panel in the Stylized Trellis folder, gently rubbed a pale pink ink over it, and affixed it to my card front.  Then I stamped my sentiment, and lastly added my arrangement of Club Blooms.

I'm sorry to say that the Large Die, Stitching Die, and 3D Embossing Folder for January are sold out.  You will be able to join these Clubs next month, in February.  Be sure to join so that you don't miss out again on new designs!

After coloring and cutting out the flowers, and embossing the background, I lightly splattered everything with white paint before putting all the layers together.  I glued the base of each flower down and popped up the flowers with some shallow adhesive foam squares.

Some Stencilled Valentine Cards!

Taylored Expressions has done it again - I adore their Triple Layering stencil sets and there is a new one for Valentine's day!

Here are my cards.

supplies: white and Doll Pink cardstock, Taylored Expressions Hearts in Bloom Triple Slim Layering Stencil set, Simon Carnation, Rose, and Dublin inks, sentiment from Beautiful Flowers, Spellbinders Bow die, fairy jewels

supplies: same cardstock, stencils, and ink as above, Simon Small Love You die, heart die

supplies: same cardstock, stencils, and inks, Simon (retired) Just a Love Note sentiment

The stencil set makes 3 different designs at one time using 4 layers of stencils.  After finishing, you just cut apart the large panel to make 3 mini slimline cards!  Genius, don't you think?  Easy to line up, too......

Here's a 2nd version done in reds.

supplies: white and Lipstick Red cardstock, vellum, Hearts in Bloom stencils, Simon Pearfection and  Altenew Tea Party inks, sentiment dies from Spellbinders Smooth Lines Mix & Match Sentiments and Honey Bee Stamps Bitty Buzzwords dies, Spellbinders bow, enamel dots

My cards measure about 3 1/4" X 5 3/4" long.  This is my 2nd set of these layering stencils.  You can see my fall cards with the other set HERE.

Anemone Glimmer Blooms

Here's another card from Yana's Anemone Blooms collection, this time using a glimmer plate and hot foil.

supplies: cream and peachy pink cardstock gold mirror cardstock, Anemone Glimmer Blooms plate,   matching die, and sentiment die, Gold glimmer foil, Hemstitch Rectangle die, microdot adhesive

This set has a large floral glimmer plate, a die to cut it out, and a sentiment die and matching shadow die (which I didn't use this time).  This glimmer design is very similar to Yana's Anemone dies (seen HERE), except that she's added some delicate baby's breath details to this one.  The gold glimmer foil looks really elegant against cream cardstock, and I wanted to keep the colors soft, so I colored the flowers in a peachy-pink.

Yana's designs are lovely, don't you agree?  Thanks for stopping by!

Yana's Anemones

Yana Smakula has a really lovely new collection that just released a few days ago - it's called Anemone Blooms, and it is amazing!

Today I have some cards that  use her Anemone dies and matching sentiment dies from this collection.  I wasn't familiar with this kind of anemone, so I looked it up and found pictures that suggested it comes in white, red, purple, and bright pink.

For my first card I used all colored foils for all my die-cutting.

supplies: white cardstock, lavender, sage green, and gold foil cardstock, Yana's Anemone dies and Wonderful Script Sentiments dies, microdot adhesive

My sentiment is just 1 of 4 different ones, and there are shadow dies to match each.  I used microdot adhesive to adhere the floral outline and the sentiment, and glue to inlay the flower parts right onto my card base.

Here's a 2nd version.  This time I cut everything from ivory cardstock and watercolored in the details.

supplies: white, black, and ivory cardstock, Yana's Anemone dies and Wonderful Script Sentiment die, Zig watercolor markers and water, microdot adhesive

I'm really pleased with how this one turned out!  I intentionally used an ivory as my background and white for my card base.  This time I stuck to the script and gave the flowers black centers, as they all had when I looked them up.  That tied in nicely with my black sentiment.

Stay tuned.....I'll be back soon with some cards using Yana's Glimmer Anemones!

Just Because

It's been a dreary January so far, so I decided to brighten things up a bit with this glitzy card today!

supplies: white, black, and peach cardstock, Simon Bouquet of Roses stencil, Altenew Magenta and Volcano Lake inks, Nuvo Moonstone Glimmer Paste, Just Because die, peach enamel dots

I first applied inks through the stencil, and then smoothed on some glitzy glimmer paste.  Maybe because of the bits of gold in the paste, the magenta color of the flowers turned to more of a peachy pink!  Here's a close shot to show the pretty glimmer.

This Just Because sentiment will allow me to send this for a variety of occasions!

Thanks for your visit today - I hope your day is a good one!

Spellbinders January Clubs: Stitching Die Kit and Glimmer Hot Foil Kit

Today I have 2 more January Club Kits to show you!  I'm excited to share with you that we'll now have a Stitching Die Club each month!!  My first card features the Stitching kit for January, called Nested Stitched Burst.  There is also a matching set of clear stamps that you can get: Sentimental Greetings, which covers a nice range of occasions.

suppllies: white and Audrey Blue cardstock, vellum, Nested Stitched Burst stitching dies, 2 pink and an aqua embroidery floss, 3 threads, Sentimental Greetings sentiment, tiny heart enamel dot

This stitching set consists of 3 stitching dies and 2 cutting dies, and I used all of them this time.  As always, I really enjoyed choosing the colors and doing the stitching.  You can either do a stamped circle with a sentiment in the center, or a stitched one - I did both, stamping on vellum so that the stitching shows through a bit.

Edited to add: the kit has sold out for this month - be sure to be there on Feb 1 when the next one arrives!

My last card features the Glimmer Hot Foil Kit: Flower Delivery.  Isn't it fun?

supplies: white and Audrey Blue cardstock, January Glimmer Kit Flower Delivery, Teal and Black glimmer hot foil, foiled sentiment from  Anytime Glimmer Sentiments, tiny aqua gems for flower centers

This kit truly did make me smile (thus the sentiment I chose) because I learned to drive on a stick-shift pale blue VW Bug!  And what fun to include this little spray of flowers for it to wear on its roof!  I foiled it in black and then colored it before cutting it out with its matching die.  The car has matching dies, too, along with a tag die and some teensy words to foil inside.

You can look HERE for information on Spellbinders Clubs.  Each is available only until January 28.  If you click on my links under each card, you can see the details of each kit.
