Blog Award

This was given to me by Suze last week, and I've been waiting to make a post about it because I have to list 7 interesting things about myself.  Taking a cue from some of Suze's list, I'll give it a shot:

1.  I played the flute beginning in grade school and all the way through high school. I actually considered becoming a music major, but.....
2.  I was a Math major instead! 
3.  I went to a small college in western Pennsylvania, called Grove City College.  They actually locked the girls in each night, and we had to sign in and out when we went out on dates!  I bet they can't get away with that anymore :)  That said, I'm very proud of my alma mater.  And that's where I met my husband of almost 40 years!
4.  I loved school all the way through.
5.  I grew up with 2 dachshunds, father and son, Fritz and Hans.  My parents and my sister each have toy dachshunds now.
6.  I got to live in Luxembourg (a small country between Belgium, France, and Germany) for a whole year in 1979 - our boys were 2 and 4, and every weekend we'd travel to a different country.  My favorite places to visit were Germany, Switzerland, and Austria (the Alps and the meadows were breathtaking!).  Would love to go back again!
7.  I'm half Scotch-Irish and half German/Hungarian.

I received this award from Anne awhile ago and from Ann this morning!  Thank you so much ladies, I appreciate your kind thoughts!  Anne, I'm sorry it's taken me so long to make this post; it's rule #3 that scared me!

List 3 things that you love about yourself; screeching halt -that's such a hard one!  I love that I can call myself a breast cancer survivor, and have been given 6 more years so far, enough to see our first grandson come into this world.  I love that I'm an optimistic person, usually choosing to see the best instead of the alternative.  And I love that I have a wonderful, supportive husband who's seen me through the best and worst of my 61 years and that I still have 2 wonderful parents who made me who I am.

4. Post a picture that you love to your blog.

This is a collage I just made of some pictures we've taken in Maine, our favorite destination at this time of year.  We won't be making the trip this year, so of course, I've been thinking about it alot.

5. Pass the award on to 5 others.  There are SO many people who should receive this award, I don't want to choose.  So I'll pass it on to all of you who inspire me on a daily basis.  I'm so glad that I've discovered this wonderful group of like-minded women; you mean the world to me!

So, my interesting (?) things are:
1. I have a degree in mathematics! I can balance the checkbook, usually!
2. Before starting our family, I worked in a law library.
3. I hate brussel sprouts.
4. Due to my DH's job, we lived in Luxembourg for a whole year in 1979......LOVED it, and would like to go back someday soon. It is a small country about the size of Rhode Island, if I remember correctly, situated between Belgium, France and Germany. Beautiful green country.
5. My sisters' nickname for me is Madame Queen......being the oldest, I was (and am) pretty bossy.
6. I love to eat, but hate to cook. When DH retired, he took over that chore. He is so much better at it.
7. Though I now live in another state, I will always be a 'burgher (Pittsburgh, PA) ... friendliest people in the world.
