Simon Says.......For a Child

Welcome to the new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog!

This week our theme is "For a Child" and the team is featuring Lawn Fawn products.  You don't have to use this brand to enter, but if you do have this brand, we'd love to see you using it, too!

supplies: white, Cotton Candy, Schoolhouse Red, and black cardstock, Doodlebug Buffalo Check dp, Lawn Fawn Woodland Critter Huggers and Fancy Scallop Rectangle die, Tim Holtz Sentiments label sticker

I found a video to make this cow from my old favorite Woodland Critter Huggers that I've used many times before. Jess of Jess Crafts had lots of other unique animals to stretch these dies into!  How fun that she used flower dies for the cow's spots!

I put mine against some black and white buffalo plaid and added a red heart to reinforce the sentiment.

Now it's your turn!  We have a $25.00 gift certificate

Let's Celebrate!

Since it's back-to-school time, I'd thought I'd celebrate summer one last time, and pulled out this little Hero Arts silhouette woodblock.  I used a black and white color scheme, and added bright summery colors.

supplies: white cardstock, patterned and solid papers from (retired) Simple Stories DIY Boutique, Hero Arts It's a Parade woodblock stamp, banner from Simon's Baby Party Animals, sentiment from Simon's Birthday Bits, Lawn Fawn Stitched Scallop Borders die, Memento Tuxedo Black marker and a ruler to draw pole lines for banner

I added a little banner to the parade of kids, and paper-pieced it from papers in the same set as the stripes and dots.

Simon Says.........For a Child

wed-newchallenge-header

Happy Wednesday!  Welcome to another challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog!

This week our challenge is to make something "for a child".  My teamies and I are playing with Neat & Tangled products.

supplies: white, tan, kraft, and Surf Blue cardstock, scraps of old design papers for sea and cloudy sky, Neat & Tangled Yo Ho Ho stamp set, Simon's Stitched Circle die, Lawn Fawn Stitched Scallop Border die, DieNamics Blueprints 20 banner, Zig markers to color

There are lots of darling pirate stamps in this set - I just chose a few of them and made my little scene.  I didn't have very much of the cloud and sea paper, so I used what I had and cut them into partial circles, inserting the pirate ship between them, to mimic the view through the spy-glass!  This card will be perfect for our youngest grandson's birthday in September!

Now it's your turn - I can't wait to see what you create!  Heidi has provided another $50.00 gift voucher

Wild Cuddly Critters

My Simon Says Stamp April Card Kit arrived yesterday; sadly it's already sold out.  But I had fun making some tags using the included action wobblers and the adorable critters in the stamp set.  These will go to our 3 grandchildren - they are still young enough that I think they'll like playing with the wobblers, and they can perhaps hang the tags on a doorknob or drawer pull.......

supplies: white cardstock, Simon's Wild Cuddly Critters stamps, Zig markers to color, #5 kraft tags, dps from Lawn Fawn's Perfectly Plaid Rainbow pad, action wobblers, my own twine/ribbon and googly eyes

There is also a set of Simon cube inks in the kit that are such fun colors!  I've already made a card using them, but that will be shared down the road a bit........

Here's all that was included in the card kit:

Card Kit, Wild and Colorful
The kits have been selling out quickly each month, so if you want to be assured not to miss any of the upcoming ones, go HERE to automatically subscribe.  You'll save yourself $5.00 each month, and will never have to worry about missing another kit!

The Craft's Meow Cards for a Child

The Craft's Meow

Hi!  This month at The Craft's Meow we're doing something a little different; we're delaying our new stamp releases for awhile, and we've substituted a series of posts there, each with a different theme!  AND beginning today, April 17 until Sunday, April 21, Lisa is running a sale for 21% off everything in the store!!  The code is April21 at checkout, and it applies even to the already low prices on clearance sets.

Today's theme is Cards for a Child.  I had lots of fun with this one, and paper-pieced a little scene for you:

I used papers from Echo Park, Basic Grey, and MME's Quilting Bee (thanks, Marcy!), and the wagon from a Christmas set called Santa's Little Helper:

Santa's Little Helper

and the Teddy from Baby Shelf:, and I added some die-cut clouds and a SRM sticker as my sentiment (thanks, Virginia!)

Please visit The Craft's Meow blog to see what my other teamies did with this theme.  While you're there, don't forget to leave a comment - Lisa will be drawing 1 random name for a $15.00 gift certificate to spend at The Craft's Meow Store.   Be sure and post your comment by 8:00 Pacific time, and Lisa will announce the winner tomorrow.

Vintage Cafe Challenge

At the Vintage Cafe Challenge, we are to make something with the theme of "childhood".  Again, I found this image on Pinterest and pinned it to my board.  The little poem below the image reads:
"This teacher is not old
but rather strict and stern
The scholars, good as gold,
say ABC in turn."

As before, I pulled colors from the print and added buttons and natural twine, along with some blue ric-rac trim that Savannah gave me.

supplies: dark blue cardstock, dps from October Afternoon Campfire and MME Lost & Found 2 "Sunshine" pads and an unknown blue stripe, dark blue ric-rac, natural jute twine, red, blue and cream buttons

The Craft's Meow September sketch

The Craft's Meow has started a monthly sketch challenge. Here is the sketch:

I won "Little Frieda at the Seashore" recently at Simply Scrapping Crafts, so now I have another set in my arsenal!  Here she is, worked into the sketch, using papers from My Mind's Eye Stella & Rose Gertie collection:

I struggled with the elements that are flowers in the sketch - flowers didn't work, butterflies didn't work, didn't have the right color buttons, and then I remembered finding these old wooden stars last week when I was cleaning out a closet!  They seem to fit with her little nautical outfit, and one of the paper panels even has a star-like motif.   Did you know that distress inks will ink wood very nicely?  Learn something new every day!

Tiny Tia

This week's challenge at Lily Pad Cards is to use patriotic colors.  The DT were each given our choice of a digital stamp from Some Odd Girl and I chose this cute little "Tiny Tina Bow" girl.  Knowing that we'd have lots of red, white, and blue I came about this in a different direction.  I've been loving using the colors yellow and aqua, so I went searching for a national flag that uses those colors.  And amazingly, with the addition of red, it's Aruba!  I have fond memories of a little vacation in Aruba when our youngest son played a soccer tournament there in 1994.  Here is their flag:

And here's my take on the colors. I added the basket of flowers to help bring in some red:

supplies: white cardstock, "Tiny Tia Bow" from Some Odd Girl digital stamps, Hero Arts CL444 Sending Smiles (basket of flowers), CL169 SparkleClear Happy Thoughts (sentiment), versafine onyx black ink, design papers from My Mind's Eye Stella & Rose "Mabel" and DCWV "Garden Party" pads, Nestabilities Labels Four, Prismacolor pencils, EK Success flower punches, tiny buttons
