More from the Stenciled Class.....

I got a new stencil and had a play with it this weekend, making 3 cards.  It is the My Favorite Things Petal Pattern.

Stenciled Sponged and Embossed

To see what the pattern looked like, I first just sponged it with 3 different distress inks, and then embossed it.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts All Good Things, part of my Secret Santa present from Jayne at Christmas!  I added a Penny Black Flutters diecut and a tiny pearl.

Next I put plain modeling paste through the stencil.

Stenciled with paste

supplies: black washi tape, Wplus9 Blanket Stitched Blooms sentiment on vellum, gold pearls

And finally I tried mixing some reinker into my modeling paste before applying it to the stencil.  I went with pale colors this first time, not wanting to waste any of the paste, and I'm thrilled with the results!

other supplies: spun sugar and mustard seed distress reinkers, Simon's Flower Friend (sentiment), vellum tag, Martha Stewart paper tape, Kelly Purkey and Lawn Fawn sequins, Doodlebug pink and yellow Doodle Twine

Some notes: I put the embossing paste on thick 140# watercolor paper this time and it did help with the warping as the paste dried.  And I invested in the palette knife set, and they do make a difference, both in getting out exactly as much paste as you need, for mixing in color, and in cleaning up.  And they're pretty too!

  4. You're going to convince me to jump on the stencil bandwagon yet! These are so pretty. I love the look of the embossing paste of modeling paste, but I think I'll stick with sponging.

  6. These are all so beautiful, especially with embossing paste! I like the little bit of twine with a knot rather than a bow -- I'll have to try that. You rocked this class!
