Ocean

Watercolor panel

supplies: ivory parchment and dark aqua cardstock, watercolor paper, Hero Arts S5316 Silhouette Grass, ST508 My Happy, vintage photo, tea dye, antique linen, tumbled glass, broken china, and faded jeans distress inks, VersaMark and clear embossing powder, aqua pearls

The challenge for this week's CAS-ual Fridays is to be inspired by the ocean.  I knew exactly what I wanted to do, after reading Maile Belles' article this morning about watercoloring.  I stamped the grasses and clear embossed them on watercolor paper, then just put some distress inks on an acrylic block, spritzed them with lots of water and painted on my background color with a big soft brush.  Again, I used my favorite current Hero Arts sketch to put this card together.  This may be one of the most CAS cards I've ever done, and I like the sentiment with it - this will be a perfect card for my chemo patients or for anyone needing a little encouragement.

  3. I am swooning over this, Lin! Your technique in inking is beautiful - I know your Chemo Buddies will love this! I have such fond memories of the Cape Cod dunes with the cat tails blowing in the sea breeze! Take me away.......

  11. That is so stunning it takes my breath away! We have a basket of sea grass in our house and it always takes me to the coast, which to me is a place of calm and reflection. This is such a perfect encouragement card! Since I have yet another friend going through tough cancer treatment, I really need to find that stamp, though I doubt I'd do anywhere near as good a job as you have. Thanks for the inspiration!

  12. Be still my heart, Lin, this is gorgeous! The colors are so serene and soft, and I love the thin blue mat on the image and sentiment panels that frames them so beautifully. Thanks for sharing this with us at CAS-ual Fridays!
