What's blooming in our gardens, 4/14/2014

Spring is creeping in here, a step forward, and a step back.  We've heard that we're about 4 weeks behind normal, and I believe it!  We've had some lovely warm temps lately and that really has popped some flower and leaf buds.  Unfortunately we're to have a dip back into the 30's tomorrow, so I thought I'd better gather some of these up in case the cold ruins them......

And a closer look to see the miracles of even the tiniest of flowers:

The smallest are scilla; I have patches of the blues growing with the little daffodils and a small clump of the white ones out back.  The other 2 flowers are Lenten Roses.  The daffodil is tete-a-tete, about 2 1/2" across at its widest point, to give you a reference here; much smaller than a "normal" daffodil.

What do you have popping up?  I'd love to see!

  3. Beautiful! Here everything is weeks ahead and even the apple trees are in bloom already. We didn't have a real winter this year, so I am busy in the garden. I hope winter won't remember that he forgot us this year and won't come back to ruin everything!

  6. Looooove seeing this bouquet Lin- it's a promise of spring:). After 3 days of glorious weather here the temps are supposed to dip down below freezing AGAIN tonight:(. I've been watching a pair of Robin's build a nest in our honeysuckle and I can see signs of a few of the day lilies poking up through the ground:)
